Affect or Effect?

I have found that a lot of people get confused when they should use “affect” or “effect”. I will be honest I am one of them, and that being why I researched the use of affect and effect for this post. A big reason people get confused is most sites will just say that affect is a verb and effect is a noun.

https://www.vocabulary.com/articles/chooseyourwords/affect-effect/ Think of Edgar Allen Poe and his Raven: remember Affect verb Effect noun. You can’t affect the creepy poem by reading it but you can enjoy the effect of a talking bird.
The downed power line affects the customers.  The effect of the downed power lines were angry customers.

https://www.grammarly.com/blog/affect-vs-effect/ Affect is usually a verb, and it means to impact or change. Effect is usually a noun, and an effect is the result of a change. So if A affects B, B experiences the effect of A’s action. Many pronounce affect and effect as a homophone; bear/bare, here/here and write/ right.

Affect is usually used as a verb and effect is usually used as a noun although they can be vice versa. Most rules have exceptions which can make it really hard to follow like I before E except after C there are many exceptions. When there are exceptions to rules it makes it hard to follow. I deal with this daily with my son I cannot make exceptions otherwise it confuses him and he doesn’t understand when he get the exception and when he doesn’t.
